Dog Shampoo
Ok – So the washing process is pretty simple. I use the shampoo first wash normally. My normal routine is using a small bucket that I keep to wash my dogs with. I put about 1/4 of a cup of the soap mixture into the bucket and add about 1 cup of water. This dilutes my shampoo mixture and lets you still wash the dog and get them all clean without wasting too much soap and having prolonged rinse times. You can put in on them without adding more water, but I have found that you get the same benefit of the shampoo by watering it down a little more, than if you directly pour on the dog and try to work it through their coat. I have long haired cocker spaniels and this has worked well for four different cockers!
I normally dilute as stated above, depending on how dirty the dog is, between 2-4 times. We live in the South and have a beautiful RED CLAY that really loves our dog’s white paws! Yes, I did have puppies that liked to get really really really dirty at the Biltmore House, playing in the stream and tromping through the gardens and around the lake with glee. Can you say muddy?! Muddy, but happy puppies!
CONDITIONER:
Once your dog is clean and free of Southern red clay or whatever it is in your neck of the woods, now it is time for the conditioner. We run a very organic and natural family and we are not willing to put things on the dogs that we are not willing to use ourselves! To whip up a batch of my conditioner formula, you will need at least a one cup measurer, because this has to be mixed with water for it to work. Like the shampoo, if you try to use the conditioner without diluting it, you use a ton and it makes a mess. My full power mode conditioner does not waste! No need to use the whole bottle of conditioner and see 90% of it going down the drain! My goal is always to use the smallest, MOST EFFECTIVE amount! Again, we have cocker spaniels with massive, long coats, so our experiences are based on cockers!
Condition Rinsing the Dog:
because that apple cider vinegar will go into that water and fuse with it to make it last much longer. When I do it right I can make that bottle in the picture last for upto 12-14 washes for the Cocker Spaniel coat, Yes I know that may sound crazy but I’m telling you when I have a huge bottle that I can mix it with including water for I mix it the way I told you and then I fill the rest of the bottle up with water and let it sit for a few weeks its like I put in a whole nother full bottle of ACV in and it rocks.
