Backing Soda Pre-Rince
Baking Soda Pre-Rinse to Remove Chemicals
I have added a jar of plain, simple, easy to find baking soda in this shot if you need to pull gunk out of your dogs coat. I use backing soda when I know that the dogs have been perfumed, or have gotten into something that is sticking to them. We are sensitive to chemicals and fragrances in our home and our dogs are with us 24/7 and if they are perfumed, we feel miserable! So, we just take it off with baking soda!
Unfortunately, when someone else washes them, or I use a product other then what I’m showing you, I tend to get a funky headache caused by the weird chemical smells emanating off of them and plain old baking soda is my secret tool for that. I use about 1/2 cup baking soda to about 3 cups of water, mix it up and then dump the baking soda mix on the dog. This “clarifies” the hair. Do not go overboard on the baking soda, or it can be hard to get out of the dog. Use the smallest amount necessary! You can do two of these baking soda rinses if you would like – and then shampoo and condition as outlined in the other slides!
